Did the Brits ever carry out high-profile, high-risk missions in World War II like the Americans did with a U-110 in the fictional movie “U-571”?

There was a wartime Hollywood war movie called Objective Burma staring Errol Flynn, it stole British Victories and made them look American, as such the Board of film sensors banned the film from being shown in The UK for fear it would upset UK- US relations, at a time when cohesion between our countrymen was vital to win the war. The producers wanted to jee up American audiences with a tale of American victory, at the time they didn’t have any, so they fictionalised a British one and made them seem American. This procedure seems to have set a precedent for Hollywood making up WW2.
